Syringe and Medication Waste

Syringes may be disposed of in a non-puncturable container at the Salem Fire Headquarters on the corner or Lafayette St and New Derby St. They can be reached at (978) 744-1235.

For improperly disposed syringes found in the community, per the Salem Police Department website:

The preferred method of disposing syringes and other "sharps" you might find is to call the Salem Police at 978-744-1212 and an officer will be dispatched to secure and dispose of the syringe. We ask that you stay where the syringe is to better direct the responding officer.

There is also a medication drop box for prescription drugs at the Salem Police Department at 95 Margin St.  Please click here for more information.
