Salem Senior Event:  Ice Cream Social – 12:15PM – Jean A. Levesque Community Life Center - 401 Bridge St. (FREE)

Guests will be served ice cream and an assortment of toppings.  This event is sponsored by Representative Paul Tucker and is free and open to Salem Seniors 60 and older.  Advanced registration required, contact Rosanna Donahue at 978 744-0924, x43006.

 

Salem Community Concert Band & Community Jazz Band - 7PM-8:30PM – Salem Willows Shell 

Come and listen to some great music by two bands made up of Salem residents and others from Grade 7 through adult, under the direction of Cynthia Napierkowski, director of the Salem High School Band.   Rain location:  Salem High School Auditorium.

Salem Senior Event, Masquerade Ball Masks – 10AM - Jean A. Levesque Community Life Center - 401 Bridge St. (FREE)

Salem Senior Event, Afternoon Tea at Winter Island – 1PM (FREE)

Salem Public Safety Day & Tour-A-Truck– 4PM-7PM– Salem Common (near playground & basketball court) 

This is combination of two events where youngsters get a chance to climb and explore the insides of all kinds of big trucks and emergency vehicles, watch a basketball game with Salem’s youth and our police officers and firefighters, enjoy some goodies and have an opportunity to engage with our public safety officials and other community agencies.

North Shore Concert Band – 7PM–9PM -Salem Willows Shell 

Come listen to Band Favorites as they close out the summer concert series. (Rain Date:  Thurs. August 4th)

 

Wednesday, August 3

Senior Event: Charlie Card Day – 9:30AM-11AM – Jean A. Levesque Community Life Center - 401 Bridge St.

If you are in need of a Charlie Card for the MBTA, bring a valid, state issued photo ID that includes Date of Birth. Must be age of 65 or older to qualify.  Sponsored by the Salem Council on Aging.. Any questions, contact Rosanna Donahue at 978-744-0924 x 43006

 

Ice Scream Bowl – 6PM-7:30PM – Salem Common

We all scream for ICE-CREAM! Indulge your sweet tooth!  Sample flavors from many of the North Shore's finest creameries, ice cream shops and restaurants. Bring the whole family. $6 Adults/$4 Kids.  Proceeds to benefit Salem Main Streets.  For more information visit www.salemmainstreets.org

Movie on the Common – 8:00PM – Salem Common - Bring a blanket or a chair and enjoy a family-friendly movie. The Salem Common Neighborhood Association will have refreshments available for purchase.

 

Thursday, August 4

Farmers' Market – 3PM-7PM – Derby Square – Front St.

Check out Salem’s successful Farmers Market.  It’s as much a social gathering as it is a great place to purchase locally grown and prepared foods. So come down and support local agriculture.  New this year, at 4pm the Salem Public Library will host Summer Storytime at the market for kids of all ages.  There will be musical entertainment from 5pm – 7pm.

Salem’s Seniors are invited to an evening of dinner, dancing and live music by Pete Saran and Richard Girard.  The event is sponsored by the Friends of the COA.  This event is $7 per person and open to Salem Seniors age 60 and older. CHANGE OF VENUE: Family Bingo Night – 5:30-7:00pm

FAMILY BINGO NIGHT WILL NOW TAKE PLACE AT THE LEVESQUE COMMUNITY LIFE CENTER AT 401 BRIDGE ST.  FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  PRIZES. JOIN US FOR FAMILY FUN IN A COOL PLACE!

 

Salem Senior Event:  BBQ at Winter Island – 10:30am – Winter Island Pavilion

This annual event is always one of our favorites! An opportunity to mingle with friends and enjoy great food. Entertainment provided by Tony Malionek.  This event is $5 per person and open to Salem Seniors age 60 and older. This event is a ticket only event. Saturday, August 6

Salem Jazz and Soul Festival- Noon – 8pm -Salem Common

S.C.E.N.E.’s 12th Sunset Hang– 1PM-8PM – Salem Willows Shell

An event combining the skills of local vj's, dj's & live electronic musicians. The extravaganza’s purpose is to showcase talent right here in Salem, the North Shore & Boston. To give a stage for new music that might otherwise be overlooked by the mainstream.
