Introducing Neal Duffy, Salem's Director of Sustainability and Resiliency

We are excited to introduce Salem’s new Director of Sustainability and Resiliency! Sharing the following message from Neal Duffy, Salem's Director of Sustainability and Resiliency:

"As I write this, I am wrapping up just my second week on the job and already I am blown away by the breadth and depth of the efforts happening here. I feel incredibly fortunate, honored, and humbled to join such an amazing team of dedicated professionals in the Sustainability and Resiliency Department. As talented and resourceful as they are, I also know that as a community we will never achieve the goals set forth in Salem’s Climate Action Plan, Resilient Together, without the contributions and efforts of the hundreds of resident volunteers, organizations, and community groups who have been and continue to do so much.I have a first-hand appreciation for all the work you do, as my roots in sustainability were planted in my own hometown of Swampscott, where I joined the Renewable Energy Committee as a volunteer almost two decades ago. Most recently I worked for the Green Communities Division at the MA Department of Energy Resources where I worked as the Northeast Regional Coordinator. While there I helped to administer the Green Communities Designation and Grant program and served as DOER’s liaison to multiple municipalities in the Greater Boston area, including Salem. I am excited to meet all of you in the coming days, weeks, and months, and to start working with the purposeful urgency required to meet the challenges we all face together. Best, Neal Duffy Director of Sustainability and Resiliency"
