Housing Rehabilitation Assistance

Have you been thinking of making improvements to your property? In addition to the housing rehabilitation assistance offered through the City of Salem, there are a number of other home improvement resources available. Programs typically offer low interest loans to income-qualified owners:

  • MassHousing’s Home Improvement Loan Program
    • Financing available to income eligible households for home repairs
    • Property must be owner occupied 1-4 units
    • Property must be the principal residence of the borrower for more than one year

  • Home Modification Loan Program - Available to any homeowner who has a disability, has a household member who has a disability, or rents to an individual with a disability. Funds can be used to make access modifications necessary to allow people to remain in their homes and live independently in their communities. Contact: Community Teamwork, Inc., Judith Tavano, (978) 459-0551 ext. 331
  • Energy Conservation Programs - North Shore Community Action Programs, Inc.(NSCAP) works on the North shore to help low-income people empower themselves as they move towards self-sufficiency and to motivate the larger community to be more responsive to the needs of low-income people.
