McCabe Marina and Recreation Area

The Tender Slip Program at McCabe Marina is a program of the City of Salem Park, Recreation, and Community Services. The Director of Park and Recreation Department reserves the right to review, accept, and reject applications based on conformity to the rules or a judgment of safety to the applicant or the general public.

To register a dinghy/tender, please bring the following the Community Life Center at 401 Bridge Street, Salem MA:

  • Drivers license
  • Mooring number
  • Proof of residency
  • Cash, check, or Visa/Mastercard

Non-residents must pay a daily fee of $10 to park and/or enter McCabe Marina and Recreation Area unless they have purchased parking sticker from the Salem Park and Recreation Department for $150.

  • If a tender is used to access a craft moored in Salem or Beverly water, the applicant must demonstrate that he/she has satisfied all conditions related to having a mooring in such waters. (i.e. fees, numbers, and locations per the local harbormasters). 
  • No boat shall be accepted into the program that exceeds 10 feet in length or 5 feet in beam (width). 
  • A decal/sticker must be placed on the boat by a staff person of McCabe Marina and must be clearly visible on the craft at all times.  
  • Slips are assigned by allowing last year’s slip holders one month to register for the 1st registration and vacant spots are then assigned on a 1st come 1st serve basis thereafter.
  • Each participating boat must be in its assigned numbered slip. They should never be in another slip unless it has been successfully disputed through the Park and Recreation Commission. 
  • Only motor vehicles with attached and applicable sticker passes will be provided free parking. 
  • No tender may be placed on the rack prior to May 15th nor left on the rack after October 15th. Any boats left on the rack after the October 15th deadline will be moved to storage at $15.00 a day and a handling charge of $25.00 will be assessed. 
Any tenders not claimed by February 1st will be considered abandoned property and sold at auctions to collect storage fees. If your tender appears to have been damaged, is not secure, not in the proper location, or is presenting a risk of hazard to others in the program, McCabe Marina staff will attempt to contact you to correct the condition. Failure to respond in a timely manner may require McCabe Marina to remove your boat at which time handling and storage fees will apply. 

Although the McCabe Tender Slip Program is designed to offer a considerable margin of safety and protection for your boat, McCabe Marina, The City of Salem, and its employees or assigns, bear no responsibility for the safety or protection of your property. We urge you to be conscientious and prudent while participating in the program.
