The SRA Sign Manual is a technical assistance guide that creates the framework for a comprehensive but balanced system of regulations for private sign design within the urban renewal area. The manual serves as a guide to SRA and DRB members as they review signs to ensure that they:
- Bring visual vitality to the area through good graphics;
- Be compatible with the architecture of the building and its surroundings;
- Be appropriate to the type of activity to which they pertain;
- Be legible in the circumstances inwhich they are seen; and
- Provide motivation for the rest of the City of Salem to collectively determine policies for private signing in other areas.
