Derby Street Sidewalk and Roadway Project - Phase II
The scope of work for this project includes removing and resetting the granite curbs on both sides of Derby street from Hardy to Orange Street, removal of the existing sidewalk material with new concrete and brick, including handicap accessible ramps at each corner and at crosswalks. The sidewalk segment from Daniels Street to 143 and 145 Derby Street will not be reconstructed as part of this project. The City started the work in April 2023. At the conclusion of the sidewalk work, the roadway will be repaved. The City's sidewalk contractor has almost completed the sidewalk reconstruction. The anticipated completion of the sidewalk work is September 15, 2023. Paving may occur in November, or due to weather/scheduling may be in Spring of 2024.
Police Details will be on-site to facilitate traffic and pedestrian flow on Derby Street. No parking signs will be installed prior to work starting. The work hours for this effort are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; however, work may continue after 3:30 pm if weather allows, to advance the project as quickly as possible.
