Trails and Sails – Beach Seining Demonstration
Event Date:
Sunday, September 20, 2015 - 11:00am
Forest River Park, Salem
What fish live in Salem Harbor? At this beach seining demonstration, Salem Sound Coastwatch staff and volunteers will walk a large seining net into the water and then drag it back to shore where we'll lay it out, gather around to examine the catch, and talk about what we found. Seining is used by marine scientists to gather information about species living in a body of water. SSCW staff will answer questions and share information about the Salem Sound estuary, marine habitats and the ecology of Salem Sound.
Free and all ages welcome.
Join our COASTSWEEP beach clean ups.
