City of Salem to Replace Diseased Trees in Forest River Park

Forest River Park

The City of Salem is announcing upcoming landscaping improvements in Forest River Park. City and Contractor crews will mobilize in the park starting Monday, September 25th, 2023, and this work should take a few days to complete. City and contractors will be removing high hazard trees throughout the park due to disease. Please see the attached map to see the affected area. Residents and Businesses that have questions or concerns are encouraged to call DPS at (978)–744–3302.

Before the final inspection is completed, the work area will be an active construction site and visitors to the park should be careful as work safety work zones will be located throughout the park and should plan accordingly. Police details will be on-site to assist with traffic during this project.

Mayor Dominick Pangallo is committed to upgrading the open spaces of Forest River Park and across the city.  The City of Salem is an Arbor Day Foundation Tree City and we are dedicated to maintaining and expanding our urban canopy.

The City of Salem plans to replant the removed trees in the spring of 2024.

The City appreciates your patience and forbearance during this project. If you have any questions, or require additional information, please call the Department of Public Service at 978-744-3302.
