City of Salem Announces Process and Deadlines for Filling Forthcoming School Committee Vacancy

Special Meeting set for July 20, 6:00 p.m.

Salem’s School Committee will shortly have a vacant seat, as member Rachel Hunt has announced her departure from the Committee.

Per the City Charter, the School Committee and the City Council will hold a joint special meeting to select the replacement for the seat. The replacement will serve through the conclusion of Ms. Hunt’s term, December 31, 2017. The joint special meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 20, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council chambers at Salem City Hall (93 Washington Street, Salem).

Any Salem resident may apply to be considered for the seat. To apply, interested residents should submit a letter expressing their interest to the City Clerk at clapointe@salem.com. Letters should be sent prior to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13.
