Kindness Rocks Project comes to Salem's Artists Row

Saturday, October 1, 1-4pm

Mayor Kim Driscoll, City of Salem Public Space Initiative and the Artisans at Artists’ Row announce a “The Kindness Rocks Project” event to take place on October 1st from 1-4pm at Artists’ Row, 24 New Derby Street.

The Kindness Rocks Project was created to spread inspiration and motivation for unsuspecting recipients through random inspirational rocks placed in easy to access locations.  It started as a hobby of one and has now turned into a movement due to the energy of many. And today this project has grown into inspiration gardens placed around Cape Cod and beyond including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Ireland, Thailand, Haiti and England.  People started joining The Kindness Rocks Project or starting similar projects in their communities!

Join us on October 1st to create a Kindness Rocks Project garden at Artists’ Row.   Please bring a rock (or two) to paint and leave in the garden. All supplies will be provided….even rocks!

A special thank you to Allison Conboy for her inspiration in bringing this project to Salem.  And to the Artists’ Row artisans, Tommy Gagnon, Linda Mullen, Sibel Alpaslan, Karen Scalia and Alexanzdra Nowak for their support of this project.    Ms. Conboy and the City of Salem Public Space Initiative are also picking a second site at the Salem Willows for another place to bring a rock, take a rock.

For information about the project please contact: Deborah Greel, dgreel@salem.com
