Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo Joins Climate Mayors

Mayor Pangallo Affirms Commitment to Climate Solutions and Action
Mayor Pangallo - Climate Mayor

Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo announced today that he has joined the Climate Mayors, a bipartisan network of more than 750 past and current mayors from across the United States who are committed to demonstrating leadership on climate change through meaningful actions in their communities. Through Climate Mayors, Mayor Pangallo joins local leaders from across the country who are committed to promoting sustainable and prosperous communities millions of people they represent.

“Solving one of our greatest threats — the climate crisis — requires meaningful action from all of us, here in our own community and in communities across the country and the globe,” said Mayor Pangallo, “I’ve joined the Climate Mayors to ensure we’re bringing real solutions to tackle the most complex challenges facing our cities today. Here in Salem, we’re dedicated to this work, through our Resilient Together climate planning initiative, our ongoing work to create a world-class port for offshore wind marshalling, our traffic-reducing transportation initiatives like Salem Skipper and Bluebikes, and our work to ensure our buildings better meet our climate goals. Our commitment to ideas that meaningfully address these challenges is so important and I look forward to working with my fellow Mayors to continue introducing new, innovative solutions that build sustainable, equitable, and resilient communities for all.”

Founded in 2014, Climate Mayors is a bipartisan, peer-to-peer network that has mobilized hundreds of U.S. mayors who demonstrate climate leadership through meaningful actions in their communities. Representing 48 states and nearly 60 million Americans, the Climate Mayors coalition reflects U.S. cities’ commitment to climate progress. In addition to local climate leadership, Climate Mayors build political will for federal and global climate action. Hundreds of members have signed the Climate Mayors letters committing to the Paris Agreement and calling on Congress to invest in a green and equitable economic recovery.
