Resident Permit Parking - Part-Time / Temporary Residents

Part-time and temporary Salem residents may be eligible for resident permit parking, but the decision must be made on a case-by-case basis if the criteria for full-time residents cannot be met. For example, if the vehicle is registered at a different address than the qualifying Salem address, they must contact the Traffic and Parking Director for a determination of eligibility to be made. If they are determined to be eligible, they may purchase resident permits. Part-time / temporary Salem residents are NOT eligible topurchase visitor passes.

If your address qualifies, you will need the following documentation in order to obtain a permit:

A completed Resident Permit Parking Application (print out and complete if applying in person)

  • Your driver's license
  • Your vehicle registration
    • Leased Vehicles: resident must provide a piece of mail from the lease company to the lessee at the qualifying Salem residence.
    • Company Vehicles: resident must provide a letter on company letterhead stating the resident has use of the vehicle.
  • Proof of residence (utility bill, lease agreement, etc.)

Part-time / temporary resident permits cost $10.00 and are valid for one (1) year. Part-time / temporary residents are NOT eligible to purchase visitor passes.

Permits can be purchased in person at 1 New Liberty Street or online via City Hall Systems. If applying in person, fees can be paid with cash, check, or money order made payable to the City of Salem.
